BLUE EGG LAYERS

Cream Legbars are our favourite breed of heritage bird. They are not too flighty or hyper - however they are very talkative. The Legbar is a rare British auto-sexing breed of chicken. As soon as they are hatched, they can be sexed male or female.

 

They are hardy and easy to care for. They withstand our Cariboo winters to minus 35 inside a coop with friends. They are excellent foragers, very watchful, and predator savvy.

Our Cream Legbar X White Leghorns are quiet birds. The Legbar lays a blue egg and the White Leghorn lays a white egg - the combination is a large light blue egg (more blue than the purebred Cream Legbar. We are working with commercial bred leghorns to develop a more productive blue egg layer - the "Cariboo Blue Hybrid".
